On Display: From Trash to Treasure

Camryn Cadenhead | Digital Brand Marketing Manager May 16th, 2026

One man’s trash is another man’s treasure!

Here at Galleria Dallas, we’ve been committed to maintaining a resourceful, impactful and sustainable footprint in our community. As a part of both our Green Initiative and our Artist Collective program that showcases local creatives, we have partnered again with global design firm HKS Architects.

For the month of May, HKS has their TRASHion Show pieces on display here at Galleria Dallas. The HKS TRASHion Show is a celebration of creativity and innovation that allows the designers to reimagine what’s possible with materials that are generally thought of as waste.

The TRASHion Show is a contest to challenge and inspire creativity among HKS designers across the globe, part of the firm’s ESG in Design initiative to create positive impact in their communities.

By reusing, recycling and repurposing everyday materials to create one-of-a kind garments, TRASHion allows HKS’ designers to explore imaginative ways to reduce waste and demonstrate how design can help overcome worldwide environmental and social challenges.

The theme for the 2026 edition of TRASHion is Avant-Camp, a mash-up that takes the innovation of avant-garde and fuses it with camp’s iconic spectacle through bold experimentation and theatrical expression and encourages exploration and dialogue around the future we’re shaping and the footprint we leave behind.

Materials for TRASHion’s garments must be 90% reused or repurposed. Eight of the fashion-forward garments made of everything from soda cans to a home-grown material are featured in our art window display on Level 1 here at Galleria Dallas near The Westin, along with panels of materials used in the competition set up in front of the gallery so shoppers can see, feel and learn about them.

The TRASHion garments are on display on Level 1 near The Westin through May.
