Walking for Water

We all know that a few intentional steps a day can help keep the doctor away, but did you know that you can use those steps to provide someone else with good health across the world?

Paper for Water, a non-profit organization dedicated to raising awareness of the global water crisis, hosted a Water Walk here, at Galleria Dallas, getting the Dallas community's feet moving to get clean water flowing. The purpose of the Water Walk was to emulate the distance many, mostly young women, have to travel daily to gather clean water in communities where they do not have access.

To join in on the Water Walk, tickets were sold with proceeds funneling into their water well projects. Funds were also gathered through a Five Guys giveback event, with 20% of all proceeds being donated to Paper for Water.

Visitors were met here with smiling Paper for Water volunteer faces with water jugs in-hand to kick-start the morning here at Galleria Dallas. The two-mile walk that stretched across our shopping center gave the participants a great view of the “Folding the Future” installation over the ice rink. The display features 250 large origami stars created by Paper for Water volunteers and team members, serving as a beautiful homage to the nonprofit’s roots of selling origami ornaments to raise money for the cause.
